THE OPEN Championship stretching into a fifth day, and finishing Monday tea-time, may well have seen it reach a bigger junior audience than ever before.
It is possible you could find a young boy or girl in your family now saying they would like to follow in the footsteps of the stars at St Andrews by taking up golf.
But how and where would they take their first steps? At Hollins Hall Marriott Hotel & Country Club this summer, perhaps.
The club is giving local children the chance to try their hand at golf with PGA head professional, Chris Kelby, in association with the Golf Foundation and HSBC Golf Roots.
From July 29 until August 27, at 10.30am and 2pm, Kelby will be holding courses for young budding golfers in which they will be able to learn the basics of putting, swinging, fitness and preparation for the sport.
There will be games and activities during each session to encourage skill and development.
Sessions are £10 per child, with a fourth session free if you attend three.
For more information or to book your child’s place, contact Chris Kelby directly on 07809 294 106 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
