RICHMOND won their second successive promotion within eight days, and in storming fashion, as they took the Yorkshire Third Division crown at Cookridge Hall by 14 shots yesterday.
Ryan Howe (76 71), Mike Henson (76 70) and Chris Bradley (70 73) produced a highly impressive aggregate of 436 in overcast and blustery conditions at the Leeds course.
Selby trailed in behind them in second place on 450, with Otley a further six shots adrift.
However, Otley shared the distinction with champions Richmond of two promotions on the run having also upped their status at Bridlington eight days ago.
Moortown placed fourth (458), Wheatley fifth (460) and Middlesbrough sixth (462).
The latter made it a trio of clubs who have raced from Fourth Division to second in just over a week.
The clubs remaining in the third tier for next season are Howley Hall (465), Abbeydale (466), Hull (467), Meltham (469), Hillsborough (469) and Brough (469).
Heading back to the Fourth Division are Pontefract (470), Pannal (471) – that coming rapidly after their promotion at Bridlington – Headingley (480), Hornsea (482), Bawtry (506) and Saltburn (521).
Richmond’s Bradley had the best individual 36-hole aggregate (143), Selby’s Chris Ramsey the best first round (70), which Richmond’s Mike Henson matched as the best in the second.
Wakefield stages the Second Division championship on July 22.
