WETHERBY GC is inviting entrants for the fourth staging of the Wharfe Trophy, which it will hold on Sunday, August 9.
As the competition for points in the Yorkshire Order of Merit increases, the Wharfe Trophy will be providing seven prizes, with the winner receiving £500.
Wetherby’s Matt Pearson won the inaugural event in 2012 and shared first spot last year with Worksop’s Andrew Oates. Nigel Sweet, of Wike Ridge, was the winner in 2014.
The hosts’ club President, Alastair McIlroy, said: “The course is in first-class condition - greens are smooth and consistent, the fairways lush and manicured and the trees, which are such a feature of the course, are as impressive as ever.”
Off the course, Wetherby’s first phase of the men’s locker room upgrade has been completed and the remaining work will be carried out after the end of the playing season.
Entry forms for the Wharfe Trophy are on the Order of Merit website www.yorkshireorderofmerit.org.uk/ and on Wetherby GC’s site www.wetherbygolfclub.co.uk.
