BRACKEN GHYLL have won the Bradford Union junior team championship for the first time thanks to a superb performance on their home track.

Four-handicapper Henry Croft, Harry Parker (19 handicap), Findlay Robertson (12) and Dan Pelkowski (11) all bettered the par of 36pts to see Bracken Ghyll to a three-point victory from Skipton, with Rawdon four points back in third.

The best three of the four scores counted, Croft pointing the way towards Bracken Ghyll's 117-point aggregate with 40 thanks to a level-par 69.

He garnered net birdies on holes three and seven as he went out in a gross one-over-par 35 before a sparkling run coming home.

He was one under par gross, carding a third net birdie at the 12th and a net eagle at the 14th. Forty points were reached thanks to gross birdies at holes 16 and 18.

Parker totalled 39pts having got off to a fast start with net birdies at the opening two holes. He had four by the turn, two more coming at holes six and eight.

He had a fifth net birdie at the 13th, compounded it with a net eagle at the next, and then ended his round as he had begun it with two net birdies.

Robertson tallied 38pts, his round - like Parker's - enjoying early momentum with a net eagle at the second followed by a net birdie at the third.

A purple patch around the turn saw birdies at four consecutive holes from the seventh, and he capped the display with a gross birdie at the 16th.

Pelkowski came in with 37pts, netting three birdies in a row from the second and another at the eighth. He had an excellent outward aggregate of 22pts.

Max Berrisford led Skipton to runner-up spot with 41pts after a one-over-par 70.

He had a gross birdie at the first and a net at the third for 19pts to the turn. Coming home he dipped four under through five holes from the 12th, net birdies at holes 12, 14 and 15 being garnished by a gross birdie at 16.
