Both unions put out very strong sides and after the morning’s foursomes the game was evenly balanced at 6-6.

Sheffield’s Tim Brind edged Damon Coulson only for Fulford-based Mark Christie to defeat Jordan Perry.

Experienced Alastair Smith, of Pike Hills, won convincingly before York lost two of the last three games. But Rob Heath (Sandburn Hall GC) earned the crucial points for York with a 3&2 win over Gary Fulwood .
