Yorkshire golf: Pam Hollingworth's fine run continues with Presidents Cup win

In challenging blustery conditions, the past ladies captain amassed 33pts to edge Kathy Hitchcock into second place, a point back.

Carole Hampson - winner of the Buckwell Trophy with Mike Greenberry and best gross shield winner in the Tartan Trophy - was third with 29.

Hollingworth was also nearest the pin over the water at the Old Boathouse, while Julie Langfield, with the last tee shot of the day, was nearest the pin on Wills Pearl and Hitchcock produced the straightest drive on Mansion House.

The Presidents Cup triumph continued a fine run of form from Hollingworth, who last month was second in the Ellisford Trophy and third in the Tartan Trophy.

Hornsea's Pro’s Stableford competition saw Dave Blanchard record an emphatic three-point win with a fine 41pts, James Leonard taking second place on count back from Jon Mitchell.

The Saturday Pro’s Stableford saw Will Marshall require an excellent 42pts for victory, and even then he needed a count back to get the better of Lee Guest. Steve Newton was third, a point back of the leading pair.

Catterick's new club champion is Jake Davies, who shot 78 74 on a beautiful but blustery day.

He beat George Catterall by one shot while John Doughty, who had led after a terrific 72 in the morning, was third.

Trefor Davies won the Carveth Trophy for best net aggregate of the day with scores of 65 74 while Narendra Gurung celebrated a hole in one on the fifth hole in his afternoon round.

Catterick'sMaisie Warrior Trophy was played for over two 18-hole Stableford competitions.

The first, the Captains Charity Cup, was won by Victoria Iveson with 37 on count back from Margaret Ferguson. Anne Moore was third on 35.

The second competition, for the WWF, was won by Val Carveth with 31, with Pat Weymes taking second a point behind, on count back from Susan Dines.

Of the ladies who entered both days, an aggregate winning score of 64 was achieved by three players, Carveth winning on count back from runner-up Weymes and third-placed Moore.

The mixed seniors open saw Catterick's Anthony Day and Sue Bingham Catterick win on 47pts.

Jim Gilmour shot a net 65 to win Division One of the seniors' merit medal by four shots from Eric Price. Nigel Fletcher was third on 71. Division Two winner was Anthony Lomas with a net 66, Layman Layton taking second two shots adrift and Trevor Percival third on 71.
