Hallamshire’s Alex Fitzpatrick, the Yorkshire Boys’ champion, had exited in the morning with a one-hole defeat to Italy’s Giovanni Manzoni.

Swash had advanced with a 2&1 win over Harry Goddard (Hanbury Manor) and had White Rose company in the last 16 in Hunley Hall’s Michael Hay, who defeated Jacopo Albertoni (Italy) by two holes.

However, while Swash was going down 3&2 to Hanisch in the afternoon, Hay was being halted by Bishopsgate Golf Academy’s Robin Williams, who won 5&4.
