YORKSHIRE CARNEGIE have seen a further eight senior players commit to new contracts with the club - and confirmed another 10 will leave in the summer.

The Championship play-off semi-finalists round off their regular campaign at Jersey on Saturday before facing Doncaster Knights in the last four battle for promotion.

Of those who will stay at Headingley next season, front-rows Charlie Beech and Lee Imiolek have both agreed new two-year deals as have second-row Mike Myerscough and centre Andy Forsyth.

Lock Matt Smith, openside Chris Walker plus centres Pete Lucock and Tom Casson have all signed 12-month contracts while Joe Graham, James Tideswell, Ben Hooper, Tom Ryder, Chris Pilgrim, Joel Hodgson, Dan Tai, David Doherty, Matt Dudman and Jack Barnard are those set to leave.

On those that have have re-signed, head coach Bryan Redpath said: “It is a great boost to the squad as a whole.

“It has been a tough year for the squad because I have looked to move things on and develop the club going forward which has meant some tough decisions on which players we have looked to keep at the club and those we have allowed to look at new options elsewhere.

“The players are major stakeholders in this club and are the people who will benefit most from us achieving our goals and they know they need to be better next season regardless of which division we are in.”

Redpath added: “There are players who are leaving that I know wanted to stay but I have had to make that choice, which is never easy.

“We tried to let those players know as early as possible so they could make plans for next season.

“I would like to thank those players in particular for their outstanding commitment to the side and the character they have shown over the last few weeks in training and on gameday.

“Hopefully we are going to have a big end to the season and achieve something special together before we part company and I know they are determined, as is everyone else, to play their part.”
