Stingrays discover the joy of home comforts

WITHOUT wishing to tempt fate, it seems Hull Stingrays’ home woes are firmly behind them.

Five wins in the last six games at Hull Arena have helped catapult Sylvain Cloutier’s team to the top of the Gardiner Conference with a place in the top six of the overall Elite League table up for grabs if they win tonight’s clash at home to Braehead Clan, who they beat 6-4 in front of their own fans last Sunday.

Earlier in the season, Hull lost four on the trot on home ice, a run which formed part of an eight-game spell without a win.

But Cloutier’s team are one of the most confident outfits around at the moment and can extend their conference lead to four points with victory tonight ahead of a long weekend in Scotland which sees them visit Braehead before another conference battle on Sunday at Edinburgh Capitals.

“I am sure some people out there did not think we would be where we are,” said Cloutier. “These next three games in our division can really help us strengthen our position.

“Things are going well for us at the moment, I know I am enjoying coming to the rink every day, and winning is contagious.”
