Laugher is all smiles

DIVING: Jack Laugher kicked off his 2012 season in commanding fashion winning the men’s one-metre springboard at the British Gas National Cup in Southend.

The City of Leeds diver dropped marks after missing his entry on an inward two-and-a-half somersaults piked but recovered over his next four dives to take gold with a score of 384.60.

“That was the highest score that I have achieved on one metre,” the 16-year-old said.

Chris Mears (Southampton Diving) won silver with a total of 366.95 and Ben Swain (City of Sheffield) took bronze.
