Doncaster at double as Hornets crushed
championship one: Leaders Doncaster chalked up a quickfire double over Rochdale Hornets in a 48-26 success.
The Dons had beaten their opponents 38-6 away the previous week and started in fine style when Dean Colton jinked over the line in the seventh minute.
Dale Bloomfield levelled the scores following some slick handling eight minutes later but the rest of the half belonged to the Dons with tries from Russ Spiers, Colton, Kyle, Kesik and Craig Fawcett quickly followed.
But they were caught napping early in the second half when Bloomfield, Dean Gorton and Paul O’Connor cashed in on lapses in concentration.
Tries from Chris Spurr and Mick Butterfield helped Doncaster regain control before splendid tries from Fawcett and Tom Hodson ensured a comfortable win but Doncaster need to cut out the lapses in defence if they want to stay on top.
