Hull KR's Aizue signs for Halifax
PAPUA New Gunea forward Makali Aizue has left Hull Kingston Rovers and signed a two-year contract at Co-operative Championship club Halifax.
Aizue was Hull KR's longest serving player and was at the club for nine years in total, he also went on to represent the Kumuls at the 2008 World Cup.
Recently Aizue was recognised for his outstanding contribution at a Player of the Year Awards ceremony and was awarded a 'Special Recognition' award from head coach Justin Morgan.
Morgan said: "It was a very difficult decision to let Makali go, especially when it was someone who has been part of the fabric of the place for so long, but players and coaches need to move on at some stage, and we wish them all the best".
Halifax director of football Martin Hall, who worked with Aizue at Craven Park in 2004, said: "Makali could probably have been playing in Super League next season if he had chosen to.
"Fortunately, we have managed to persuade him to come and continue his career with us."
