Market prices: Thirsk
June 18, 2007: Forward 1455 head of stock comprising 375 cattle inc 131 young bulls and 20 cows & OTM's, 1011 sheep inc 889 spring lambs & 120 ewes and 69 pigs inc 40 sows.
Clean cattle prices were dearer on the week, with a top price of 215.5p for a Belgian Blue x heifer from Hazel House Farming Ltd, Huby, which was purchased by
John Penny & Sons, Rawdon. Steers sold to 190.5p from Cole Hill, Elwick to Scot Beef Meat Packers Ltd, Stirling.
Young bulls sold to a top price of 182.5p for a Blonde x bull from J Matten, Newsham, bought by John Penny & Sons, Rawdon.
Cows and OTM's numbers were dearer than last week with OTM's selling to 163.5p and cows to 145.5p
A good entry of lambs were forward and maintained last weeks rates, with the top price being 77.00 and 184.6 kg from RH Dixon & Son, Raskelf to N Bramall & Son, Sheffield. Ewes sold to a top price of 85.
Good quality pigs were easy to sell with a top price of 125p while Sow trade attained a price of 74p.
