Threat to Raleigh is huge concern for Huddersfield

HUDDERSFIELD Giants prop Andy Raleigh faces the RFL's disciplinary committee tonight after being cited by their match-review panel for an alleged late tackle on Bradford Bulls' new signing Matt Orford.

Any ban would see Raleigh, who helped Giants to a 24-12 victory in their season opener, miss Friday's trip to Hull FC causing a headache for coach Nathan Brown.

He has already lost another of his front rowers Keith Mason for at least four weeks with a pectoral injury suffered in the same game.

Former Hull KR second row Ryan Esders also appears after being accused of a dangerous throw on Warrington full-back Richard Mathers during Harlequins' 58-0 defeat at the weekend while Catalans' prop Remy Casty is charged with a high tackle on Wakefield's Paul Johnson at Belle Vue.

Hull FC second row Willie Manu was given a caution for using his knees on St Helens centre Matt Gidley and Bradford hooker Heath L'Estrange was cautioned for a swinging arm on Huddersfield's Luke Robinson.

Warrington's Chris Riley, who scored five tries against Harlequins, has been sent a warning letter for an attempted trip on Chris Melling.

A total of 78,090 people – a high for the competition – turned out to see Super League XV's seven Round One fixtures.

RFL chief executive Nigel Wood had special praise for young players whose exploits served to underline that the investment in junior development by clubs is now paying dividends.

Huddersfield's Leroy Cudjoe, 21, Hull winger Tom Briscoe, 19, and Castleford Tigers' 20-year-old loose forward Joe Westerman all delivered crucial try-scoring performances in their clubs' victories while Wood added that a total of 55 tries – at an average of eight per game – strengthened his belief it is the most entertaining sport in the country.
