Local businessman and debenture holder Marc Green has emerged as the likely new owner after Richard Lamb’s London-based consortium – who had a bid accepted by the administrator last week – failed to provide sufficient proof of funds before the RFL’s deadline.

Green’s company, Safeguard Security Group Ltd, is Bradford’s biggest creditor following a loan, believed to be around £150,000, it made to the club last September.

He says he has been trying to broker a rescue deal and maintained that, had SSG not exercised its powers as debenture holders to appoint an administrator, the club would have been compulsorily wound up by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs. Bradford are bottom of Super League on minus two points having had six points deducted for going into administration on the eve of the season.

However, coach Francis Cummins received some good news on the injury front with both captain Matt Diskin and front-row Adam Sidlow expected back in action much quicker than first feared.

The pair were hurt in Sunday’s 16-0 loss to Hull KR and appeared set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, scans have revealed the problems are not as serious as they first appeared, with Sidlow out with ruptured ankle ligaments and Diskin expected to miss a month with a torn calf muscle.

Hull KR’s former Wakefield prop Justin Poore will miss out on a reunion with his old club on Sunday after being banned for the second time since his move from the Wildcats.

Poore, who served a one-match ban last month for punching, was found guilty of a grade C offence of making a dangerous throw during Rovers’ win over Bradford.
