The Australian, who has been in impressive form in 2014 after suffering a heart attack two years ago, will be one of the club’s main strike threats as they head to Salford Red Devils on Sunday.

Bradford, who lost their Challenge Cup quarter-final to Warrington Wolves on Sunday, need points desperately to pull clear of the relegation mix.

But their hosts are in the mire themselves after some woeful form.

Purtell, 29, said: “It’s important for us to get the win this weekend.

“It’s been a tough year so far but we can focus on the league now.

“We know it’ll be a hard match over at Salford but we need a victory and we’re in good spirits here.”
