Castleford Tigers 34 Warrington Wolves 14: Dorn's double leads Tigers to stunning comeback in Newcastle

Castleford Tigers staged a stunning 34-point fightback to shock Super League leaders Warrington Wolves at Newcastle's St James' Park.

Tigers trailed 14-0 after half an hour, but then ran in six unanswered tries - five of them in an a devastating 22-minute spell either side of the break - to turn the Magic Weekend showdown on its head.

Luke Dorn’s 35th-minute touchdown began Tigers’ revival, the full-back going over from Mike McMeeken’s pass after some dazzling handling following a kick by Luke Gale.

The scrum-half converted, via an upright and added the extras again following a strong finish by outstanding forward Grant Millington, who stepped over on the final play of the half.

Tigers went in at the break 14-12 down, but hit the front on 48 minutes when Denny Solomona touched down from Gale’s kick.

Two minutes later, Gale’s pass sent McMeeken over and on 57 minutes Solomona scored his second from a scrum on half-way, Gale adding the extras.

Gale opened a three-score gap with a penalty 16 minutes from time and Dorn put put the result beyond doubt with his second try, following a defence-splitting run by Junior Moors, three minutes later, Gale converting.

Warrington had looked on course for a big win when they dominated the opening half an hour, scoring three tries.

Stefan Ratchford snapped up a loose pass by Ben Roberts to dash over from inside his own half, then Kurt Gidley improved his own try before Ben Currie went over from Matty Russell’s long-range kick return.
