Castleford Tigers aim to take advantage of home comforts against Hull KR

They make a welcome return to Wheldon Road tomorrow, having played just four of their 11 games this season at their own ground.

Seven away fixtures have taken their toll on Powell’s team, who have been blighted by injuries for much of 2016 and begin round 12 in seventh spot. On the flip side, however, starting with the visit of Hull KR, it means they have plenty of games to look forward to on their own turf in the second half of the campaign.

Powell admitted: “We’ve not played at home a hell of a lot this year. So, we’re looking for our home form to be the catalyst for us to go on a run and be difficult to beat.

“The next two games are absolutely key for us (St Helens visit next Sunday) and if we get our form right here it gives us a great chance.

“We have played all the Lancashire teams – apart from Salford – and both Hull teams away. We have got a lot of home games coming up and we have got to grab hold of that.

“We need to put in some outstanding performances there and play well away, as well.

“But if we win our home games that will stand us in really good stead.”

Rovers, who forced a last-minute 16-16 draw with Castleford on the opening day of the season, are in crisis after their shock Challenge Cup elimination by part-timers Oldham a week ago and have just two Super League wins all year.

Subsequently, they are expected to come out firing tomorrow.

Powell added: “I see Hull KR have stopped players talking to the press this week so they are obviously looking for a response of ‘do your talking on the field.’

“But we need to concentrate on ourselves and get our jobs done. If we do that then we’re confident.”

Castleford are set to give a debut to new loan signing Larne Patrick in place of the injured Oliver Holmes and Powell will recall fellow forwards Junior Moors and Gadwin Springer if they pass late fitness tests. Will Maher and Tom Holmes drop out from the team that lost at Wigan.
