consistency key for millward
Castleford Tigers coach Ian Millward knows Bradford Bulls have the attacking threat to hurt his side tomorrow if they fail to start delivering consistency.
Bradford were dismal in their first game against Catalan while Castleford impressed with a tough victory at Salford.
But, ahead of his first home fixture, Millward warned: “I saw Bradford last Sunday and they have some talent there.
“They created scoring opportunities and just couldn’t nail them.
“When you look at players like Luke Gale, Brett Kearney and Jarrod Sammut you know they have some strike.
“But we have to look after ourselves. We conceded 30 points a game last season and aren’t good enough yet to worry about others.
“We must concentrate on getting consistency in our own game.
“I thought we were outstanding with regard to our attitude at Salford and the way we went about the little things in our game.
“It was a real mental test in those conditions. But we have to back it up now.”
Hull FC face Catalan in Perpignan tonight with ex-Bradford and Great Britain star Leon Pryce set to make his debut for the French club.
All 10 Championship One clubs yesterday voted in favour of having the top four promoted at the end of the regular season.
This sees the formation of an expanded 14-team division in 2013 meaning that there will be no relegation from the competition this year.
However, there will also be a top six play-off at the end of the Championship One campaign with the winners of the Grand Final deemed as champions.
Four new clubs will enter Championship One in 2013 with Northampton the first to be named.
