PAT SMITH showed his old club what they were missing as he twice zipped through to send York on the way to a convincing 46-6 victory at Gloucestershire All Golds.
Smith scored early in both halves against the side with whom he had a loan spell in 2013.
In-form Josh Tonks also scored twice and set up three more in a man-of-the-match show as the Knights got back to winning ways in League One.
The pair combined for the opening score as Smith’s pass saw Tonks burst through and give a return to send the scrum-half home.
A looping pass by Jonny Presley found Tyler Craig in space to stroll in the second.
All Golds threatened a comeback after Chris Vitalini touched down a kick by Matt Bradley, who converted.
As the pressure mounted on York, Craig broke out of defence and Tonks skipped through tacklers to stretch their lead.
Tonks surged through again before sending in Ben Dent, who ended with seven conversions.
Smith got his second – after Presley’s change of pace caught the defence out – as did Tonks, who then turned provider as Nev Morrison finish well, and Greg Minikin got the eighth try.
All Golds’ bad day was capped when Brett Scriven was sent off for needlessly decking Harry Carter after dropping the ball.
