PAUL ANDERSON has lauded “Mr Huddersfield” Eorl Crabtree ahead of his 400th game for the Giants.

Former England prop Crabtree, 32, reaches the milestone in tonight’s Super 8s fixture against visiting Castleford Tigers.

His career with the Fartowners, which started in 2001, has seen him and the club rise from the second tier to the upper echelons of Super League.

Indeed, victory tonight would almost certainly secure yet another top-four finish for third-placed Huddersfield as they seek to plot their way to a maiden Grand Final.

Head coach Anderson said: “Eorl is Mr Huddersfield and for him to be a one-club man and go through the transformation of this club is probably unrecognisable.

“It’s a massive game for us all against Cas’. It’s a good chance and this week can go a long way towards securing what we’re here for; a semi-final spot.

“We’re fit, healthy and we’ll run with the same squads that we have the last few weeks.

“There’ll be no changes which is a good thing.

“I’ve tinkered a little bit throughout the year, but we’re getting to the stage now where we need to put some continuity out there.”

Victory would put them four points clear of their West Yorkshire rivals with three matches left of the Super 8s.

Crabtree, part of the Huddersfield side that won the League Leaders’ Shield in 2013, admitted: “This is the best group I’ve played in.

“We’ve got some of the best individuals and it’s a well-rounded group with more strength in depth.

“We’re in a position now where the players can actually go on and do something.

“It’s taken a while to get to that stage. I think we’ve improved year after year and now we’re ready to make that next step, which is winning a major trophy. That’s what we’re aspiring to do.”

Salford Red Devils have confirmed head coach Iestyn Harris’s departure while Leigh’s ex-Halifax, Huddersfield and Wales hooker Sean Penkywicz has been banned for two years after testing positive for a growth hormone.
