I need to change one or two mindsets, says Radford as Hull KR ease to derby victory

The defeat leaves them joint-bottom of Super League with just one win in seven games and Radford acknowledges the pressure is now on him.

“I’m not deaf, I heard the singing,” he said, with Rovers fans in a bumper crowd of 20,507 chanting ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning.’ “Trust me, I’m working tirelessly to try and change one or two mindsets within this group and put some more pressure on our senior guys to let that filter down.

“That’s an absolute must for us. I’m sure the Rovers captain gives it out to their players if someone’s not pulling their weight in their training environment but, for us, any adversity goes against us, and we seem to capitulate.

“We need a win. We had so much territory and so much ball, but didn’t do anything with it and let them come down our end three times to score.

“That’s not acceptable. We have aspirations to make the top eight but unless we change and become tougher on each other that won’t happen.”

Impressive Rovers moved up to fourth with the win and head coach Chris Chester commented: “The effort we put in was sensational.

“The second-half defensive performance was worth writing about.

“We weren’t as fluent as we’d like but we still created enough to win two or three games and they keep turning up for each other.”
