But Radford, in the Hull side that lost the 2008 final to Sunday’s opponents, admitted: “We are going to have to perform really well at St Helens.

“We’ve to get our performance right and it has got to warrant a result. We’ve highlighted all week where we need to be better.

“Defensively on the right edge is one but that comes with time.

“It’s a new right edge (Curtis Naughton and Mahe Fonua) and it’s all about getting familiar with the blokes that you are defending around. Making sure that is rolled out on Sunday is key. I’m not complaining with the run we’re on; that’s just me striving for perfection”

Hull, are missing two of their form players, Frank Pritchard and Sika Manu who have returned to Australia to captain Samoa and Tonga respectively in this morning’s Test match, but Gareth Ellis, Mark Minichiella and Leon Pryce return.

Hull Kingston Rovers have paid the “ultimate respect” to Roger Millward by retiring the number 6 jersey with immediate effect.

The rugby league Hall of Famer and most successful captain and coach in Rovers history died this week at the age of 68.

A former Great Britain international who scored a record 207 tries for Robins during an illustrious career having joined from hometown Castleford, legend Millward was synonymous with the club’s No.6 shirt.
