Adversity nothing new for Webster at Hull KR

They host Warrington Wolves tonight knowing, realistically, they have to defeat the Challenge Cup semi-finalists to stand any chance of breaking into the top-eight with four games to go.

But having seen captain Terry Campese ruled out for the season due to yet another injury they also witnessed in-form second-row James Greenwood suffer a back injury in training on Wednesday.

However, Webster said: “We’ve had plenty of adversity thrown at us this year and we’ve been able to get through it every time.

“It’s been a hurdle, it’s been part of a journey which is what rugby league is all about.

“I’m more than confident whatever gets thrown at us, we can repel that over time and be successful.

“If we can make top-eight, fantastic. If we are in the middle-eight, we’ll deal with that and make a strategy that is hopefully successful.”

It is their first game back at Craven Park since cruelly losing out 20-18 to Wigan Warriors in the final seconds.

For all they have won just five games this season, and seem destined for another stint in the Qualifiers, Rovers’ support have not turned on them.

“Hopefully we can close a game out and be good enough to do it,” said Webster.

“I think the players can understand why Hull KR supporters are very educated and have a pretty good understanding of what’s going on.

“I don’t think you can ever question the effort of this team; you can question the decisions we’ve made over time but not the effort or commitment,” added Webster.

Ken Sio and French duo Kevin Larroyer and John Boudebza return as Rovers seek to upset the odds against opponents hoping to pip Hull FC to the League Leaders’ Shield.

Three of Rovers’ remaining four games are at home, the derby at Hull in less than a fortnight’s time the only one that isn’t.

Meanwhile, Dane Chisholm, the Australian stand-off who played seven games for Rovers last season, has joined Bradford Bulls from Canterbury Bulldogs on a deal until the end of 2017.
