Rhinos' Singleton and Wildcats' Kirmond receive bans

Leeds Rhinos prop Brad Singleton has been handed a one-match ban having submitting an early-guilty plea after swapping blows with Warrington prop Ashton Sims in last Friday night's game.

Singleton, who appeared in front of a Rugby Football League disciplinary tribunal last night, will miss Friday’s home game against Catalans Dragons.

But Rhinos’ England centre Kallum Watkins will be able to keep his ever-present record after being told he will face no further action for a careless high tackle on Warrington centre Ryan Atkins.

Watkins used his option of an early-guilty plea to the grade A offence.

Sims will sit out Friday’s Super League derby with St Helens at Langtree Park after being given a one-match ban.

An ever-present for the Wolves this season, Sims was found guilty of a grade B offence of punching. The Fiji international was sin-binned during his club’s 52-18 win over the champions last Friday after his skirmish with Singleton.

Wakefield will be without captain Danny Kirmond for the visit of Hull KR tomorrow after he admitted a tripping offence in his side’s 38-8 defeat at Salford and was given a one-match ban.

Meanwhile, forwards Gareth Hock, Jamie Acton and Micky Higham will miss Championship leaders Leigh’s game against Whitehaven on Saturday as they await their hearings following the Centurions’ controversial win over Swinton earlier this month.

The RFL agreed to a request from Leigh to postpone the hearings to next Tuesday. All three players are facing grade D offences.
