The forward is yet to feature for Salford this season, having arrived at the AJ Bell Stadium from London Broncos in the off season.

But Griffin, who is the brother of Salford team-mates Josh and Darrell, has a wealth of experience in Super League, having made 40 appearances in three seasons for London and Hull KR, respectively.

Wakefield coach James Webster is currently without the likes of Matty Ashurst, Ian Kirke, Lopini Paea, Scott Anderson and Chris Annakin due to injury so is pleased to welcome the addition of Griffin to his squad.

He said: “George has had plenty of experience in Super League at both London and Hull KR. He is able to play good minutes which will help us as we are extremely short of props leading into a busy Easter period.”

Wakefield have also signed St Helens prop forward Jordan Hand on a month’s loan.

Hand, 21, who played on a dual-registration for Whitehaven last year, has yet to play for Saints this year.

“Jordan need to be playing regularly,” Saints chief executive Mike Rush said. “There is strong competition for places in the squad at St Helens and therefore we are more than grateful toWakefield for agreeing to this move.”
