The Frenchman joined Leeds from Toulon in 2012 and has made 39 appearances for the Headingley club.

This season he has established himself as one of the best props in the division, hence the interest from top-flight clubs at home and abroad.

But he said: “I was impressed by the club’s ambition to get into the Aviva Premiership and I want to play my part in helping to do that and hopefully play for this club at the highest level.”

Carnegie head coach James Lowes said: “Re-signing Damien is a major boost to our squad for next season and beyond.

“He recently returned from injury and is working hard with our conditioning staff to get back to the great form he produced earlier in the season ahead of the play-offs.

“Quality players in his position are extremely difficult to find, recruit and retain and this signing should not be underestimated.”
