Cleckheaton register first win at new level

Huddersfield YMCA suffered a 46-26 defeat to Firwood Waterloo. YMCA found themselves 22-7 down in the first half before mounting a comeback. Tries from Adam Ryder, Simon Wilson and Simon Whitehead pulled YMCA to within two points, only for Waterloo to step up the pace with a brace of tries and penalties.

Sandal overcame early resistance to beat Sheffield Tigers 34-7.

Sandal went ahead through Dave Martin, but Tigers edged in front when Charlie Dunn touched down and Alex Graham converted. But the visitors took control with tries from Simon Frewin, Gareth Newman, Martin again and James Stewart.

Another poor start for Beverley cost them victory at Lymm, the Cheshire side winning out 30-27. Tony Maka, Sam Atiola, Ben Watson and Dave Brant crossed to give them two bonus points.

Cleckheaton got their first win, defeating Wirral 37-20.

Two tries by Rob Afoa Peterson and Ross Hayden and a Matt Piper drop goal gave them a half-time lead. Wirral hit back with two tries but Cleckheaton regained their composure and ran in three excellent tries from Martin Woodhead and two more from Hayden.
