Clegg and Jaques stand down as Otley make changes
PETER CLEGG and Paul Jaques have stood down from their respective roles of head coach and chairman at Otley after more than a decade at the helm of the club.
"It's a new era down at Otley and I've had 11 years at the club and just decided it was time for a change," said Clegg who along with Jaques oversaw seven successive seasons in National One at Cross Green.
"I've had no fallings-out with anyone, I just wanted a break from it."
The RFU's decision to streamline the second-tier into a 12-team professional support structure to the Premiership hit Otley harder than most and they were relegated last season amid financial uncertainty.
Jaques says the club will have to rely more on home-grown players in the third tier next season and added that his decision to stand down was purely to offer a younger man the opportunity to run the club. His successor will be voted in next month.
Rotherham have continued their recruitment with the signing of Glasgow Warriors back row Steve Swindall.
The Titans' Championship rivals London Welsh yesterday entered administration after admitting they only have enough money to operate for one more month.
A further 1m to 1.5m is required to fund the club through the next season.
