Devonshire drives in at double as Dixon inspires battling Bees

Hull worked hard for a significant away victory and came away with the bonus point following an overwhelming first half.
The visitors controlled most of the possession in the first 10 minutes, but were frustrated until a quick break up the right wing from Alex Piercy ended with a short pass inside for Sione Onesi to finish from 10 metres.
Rob Devonshire scored two tries before the interval to give Hull control. First, a close-range scrum was quickly collected and the No 8 dived over the line unopposed before James Cameron converted. Then, five minutes before the break, he doubled his scoring by finishing a catch-and-drive on the right flank to bring.
Early in the second half, James Cameron scored a long-range penalty and, in the 63rd minute, Hull were rewarded with their bonus point and the best try of the match. From another close-range scrum, the ball was quickly moved from the centre to the left through Chris Murphy and Andy Gravil to Dan Cook, who finished off from five metres for his first try of the season.
Kendal mustered a fightback following harsh yellow cards for Neil Spence and Dan Cook. James Gough picked up the loose ball and ran to the right corner, which was undermanned, and planted the ball for their consolation try.

THE next-to-the-bottom Bees closed the gap on Broadstreet and Huddersfield to just three points with this fine victory.
With coach Stuart Dixon picking himself in the centre and moving the imposing presence of Tylon Mafi to the wing, it seemed the game-plan would be centred on midfield collisions but it was the pack who established the dominant platform to allow the backs to produce some flamboyant moves.
Dixon was in imperious form, rolling back the years to give a vintage performance. He was ably supported by Tane Jericevich and Jim McBirnie, who were rock-solid in defence and always varying the game in attack
Tom Davidson slotted two penalties to give the Bees an early lead but Charlie Rayner's penalty kept the sides only three points apart as half-time approached. However the clever stepping of stand-off Jericevich created a hole in the defence which allowed Dixon to jog in and the Bees led 13-3 at the break.
James McBirnie then burrowed over and this score was followed by a converted penalty try.
In the final quarter, tries from Tom Ball and Rob Almond put the home side 34 points clear before Westoe responded.
