Powerful Greens lay down Law

Wharfedale recorded their first home league win since December with a convincing 32-18 win over newcomers Darlington Mowden Park.

Leading 18-10 at half-time Dale put together an impressive second period that resulted in two penalty tries.

The opening exchanges were even, Garry Law and Tom Davidson both slotted penalties, before a Philip Woodhead drop goal edged the home side in front.

Darlington fly-half Law – the former Rotherham player – crossed for the first try which he also converted.

Oliver Cicognini scored out on the left, Davidson added the extras and Dale extended their lead with a driving penalty accredited to hooker, Ian Larkin.

Despite another Law penalty at the start of the second half, the Dalesmen started to dominate up front leading to two decisive penalty tries.
