Titans trio told to make exits in style

Lee Blackett has warned his departing stars that if there is even the slightest let-up in their production for Rotherham Titans they will never wear the shirt again.

Joan Pablo Socino, the Championship’s leading scorer, became the latest player to sign with a Premiership club for next season when he agreed a two-year deal to join next-to-bottom Newcastle.

Dan Sanderson and Ben Sowery have already signed deals with bottom club Worcester for next season, but Blackett has urged them to put future aspirations on hold to help keep alive Rotherham’s improbable promotion dream.

“If they don’t give 100 per cent, they won’t be in the team,” warned Blackett, whose side host Plymouth today.

“We’ve got a strong enough squad to cope without them.

“If they do slow down, it doesn’t matter if it affects what we’re trying to do this season, the bigger picture is that this club deserves respect.”

Doncaster coach Clive Griffiths has described the National One promotion race as a “war of attrition”.

Knights have an eight-point lead over Rosslyn Park with five games to go. They visit Rosslyn next week after entertaining Old Albanian today.

He said: “The Rosslyn Park game will be the defining moment I’m sure but we have got another three games after that, too.”
