MORE than 1,000 children in Bradford enjoyed live orchestral music for the first time at St Georges Concert Hall.
MusicQuest brings together four major organisations – The Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts, Classic FM Music Makers charity, Yamaha Music UK and The Philharmonia Orchestra – for a three-year project which introduces children across Britain to classical music and encourages teachers to use music in their everyday teaching practice.
Every year the project reaches over 5,000 young people between the ages of seven and 11 who might not otherwise have the chance to enjoy such a high quality musical experience.
Chairman of The Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts Rick Wills said: "Classical music is surrounded with such mystique that it can be hard to find out what you enjoy and what you don't.
"You have to fight through the obscure jargon and the lists of composers, conductors, soloists, orchestras.
"All of this can interfere with your quest to find and enjoy what, at the end of the day, is simply great music.''
