Volunteers haul on ropes to lift into place the cross that has become a familiar sight on the Chevin at Otley over the Easter period.
The first Chevin cross was installed 40 years ago, and since then it has become a well-known Easter symbol of hope.
It overlooks the West Yorkshire town and is erected every Easter by a team of people.
The current 30ft cross was made in 2000 from wood salvaged from Manchester after the IRA bombed the city, to replace the original structure, which was vandalised.
It was lifted into place on Saturday.
