PLEASE touch the exhibits - so Castle Howard is telling visitors who encounter the intriguing objects within the Cabinet of Curiosity.
Containing a Second World War pilot's escape map, minerals, the Order of the Garter and other objects relating to the house and the Howard family, Josephine Martin's award-winning cabinet encourages people to touch, pick-up and even smell the exhibits.

"In Castle Howard it's really important to protect the collections, so people aren't generally allowed to touch and handle the objects," she said.

"So this will provide some kind of sensory experience that isn't available. Hopefully the message will be put across that people can come and touch it."

The Cabinet of Curiosty is in the Long Gallery and admission to the house includes access to the cabinet.
