Catalans Dragons put the disappointment of their Challenge Cup final defeat behind them with victory over Wakefield Trinity.
Beaten 30-8 by St Helens in their historic appearance at Wembley, the French side got back to winning ways at the Stade Gilbert Brutus in Perpignan on Saturday.

A Jamie Rooney penalty put the visitors in front after eight minutes, but Catalans res
ponded swiftly with a try from second row Cyril Gossard four minutes later.

Stacey Jones converted and the home side extended their lead through Jason Croker.

Beaten 42-24 at home in their last engage Super League fixture, Wakefield needed to hit back before half-time and did just that.

Rooney crossed for the visitors' first try of the evening and then added the extras to make it 12-8 at the interval.

Substitute Remi Casty scored Catalans' third try four minutes into the second half but Sam Obst's try made it 18-14.

Catalans needed just five minutes to extend their lead once more through Justin Murphy however, and another try from Clint Greenshields put the result beyond doubt.

Rooney scored his second try with 10 minutes left but Adam Mogg made sure with a score late on after a 77th-minute brawl saw Richard Moore and Alex Chan dismissed and Luke Quigley sin-binned.

Catalans Dragons: Greenshields, Murphy, Duport, Raguin, Khattabi, Mogg, Jones, Chan, Quigley, Ferriol, Croker, Gossard, A. Bentley. Substitutes: Casty, Teixido, Griffi, Mounis.

Wakefield Trinity: Rooney, Fox, Atkins, Gleeson, White, Greseque, Jeffries, Watene, D. March, Bibey, Ferres, Catic, Demetriou. Substitutes: Obst, Moore, Sculthorpe, Henderson.
