Christmas has come early for Oscar-winning British actor Jim Broadbent as he shoots his new movie in West Yorkshire.

The film star was in Leeds yesterday to film Get Santa in Rothwell.

Broadbent, best known for
his roles in The Iron Lady and
the Harry Potter and Bridget Jones films, plays Santa
Claus in the festive adventure film.

Get Santa tells the story of nine-year-old Tom, played by Kit Connor, who has to team up with his father in a bid to try and save Christmas.

The film sees Santa lose his reindeer and follows his journey as he desperately tries to find them.

His adventure lands him in prison, meaning Tom is his only hope.

The young boy and his father have to try and reunite Santa with his reindeer and return him to Lapland in time for Christmas.

Rafe Spall, known for his work in Prometheus and Life of Pi,
plays the role of Tom’s father Steve.

Ewen Bremner, Stephen Graham and Jodie Whittaker also star in the movie, which boasts Ridley Scott as one of the executive producers.

The film is backed by the British Film Institute (BFI), Screen Yorkshire’s Yorkshire Content Fund and Ingenious Media.
