Pub of the Week: 10 Devonshire Place, Harrogate

A couple of friends have been raving at me for quite some time about paying a visit to 10 Devonshire Place in Harrogate. So I did.

From the outside the elegant double bay Georgian frontage of this former 19th-century coaching inn this looks less like a pub and more a fancy bistro. Step inside to find the perfect pub ambience all dark and moody and bursting with an array intriguing drinks, food and tons of atmosphere.

The change of name from the Devonshire Arms, restoration and new approach happened back in 2014, and they have been going great guns ever since. Unquestionably, there is the most impressive range of beers. On the bar, you will find 10 hand pumps offering both cider and local cask ales with the same number of craft kegs at the back. But it doesn’t stop there with an impressive selection of wines and gins on offer as well.

Each day there is a changing street food menu (we arrived too early for the Jamaican street food, but we will be back) and an exhausting list of social events. If you don’t have time to stop for a pint (though you should) or fancy taking it home, there’s also a shop stacked with every style and origin of beers and other drinks imaginable.

You can order online and pick up from the bar.

Is there anything they haven’t thought of? I don’t believe there is.
