LEGENDARY heavy metal rock stars Black Sabbath will play a date in Leeds on their last-ever tour next year, it was confirmed today.

The gigs emerged at the weekend’s Download Festival, at which the reformed band was headlining.

The seven-date tour ends in the band’s home town of Birmingham, next February.

The Leeds date - the band’s only Yorkshire appearance - is on Thursday, January 26, and tickets go on sale this week.

The classic Black Sabbath line-up of guitarist Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward, reformed in 2011. Ward has since quit and announced his new band, Day Of Errors.

Iommi said of the final date: “When we’re home where we started, we always find it a bit nerve-racking. But Birmingham means such a lot to us. It would be nice to think it could finish where it all started, in Birmingham.”

The full list of dates is:

Manchester Arena, January 22

Glasgow SSE Hydro, January 24

Leeds First Direct Arena, January 26

London O2, January 29-31

Birmingham Genting Arena February 2,4
