The venue has announced that Love Letters, starring Hollywood legends Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal will not go ahead as planned in September because O’Neal needs to undergo back surgery.

In a statement from the show’s production company, David Ian, said: “The UK tour of Love Letters due to open this September, is unfortunately postponed due to Ryan O’Neal requiring back surgery and a period of postoperative recovery. We send Ryan our best wishes and hope he has a speedy recuperation. We advise audiences to contact their point of purchase for further information.”

Tickets for Love Letters at the Alhambra Theatre went on sale earlier this year as part of Bradford Theatres’ autumn season and the venue is now working hard to notify their customers and will provide full refunds to those who had booked to see the show, which was due to tour the UK.

It is the second disappointment for the theatre in recent weeks. Earlier this month it broke the news to theatregoers that Sheridan Smith would not be playing Fanny Brice in the award-winning musical Funny Girl. The actress had been diagnosed with mumps and her role was taken by understudy Natasha J Barnes.

Anyone with tickets for Love Letters should contact the box office on 01274 432000.
