Here is this week's top pick of good value bottles to savour

Nepenthe Sauvignon Blanc 2008, Adelaide Hills, Australia, Majestic down from £8.99 to £6.99 on multibuy until August 31.
Brilliant lively exotic fruit with crisp underlying acidity. Delightfully fresh, but definitely not sharp.

Chateau Pontet Bagatelle 2008, Coteaux d'Aix en Provence, Great Northern Wine, Ripon (01765 606767), £9.99.
A fabulous soft, elegant rosé from an Australian who has switched from investment banking to grape growing and winemaking.

Castillo de Molina Shiraz 2007, Maule, Chile, Majestic, down from £7.49 to £5.99 until August 31.
Full of ripe cherry and damson fruit with cedary notes and velvety soft tannins. Soft enough to drink on its own but better with steak.

Brampton OVR 2007, Stellenbosch, South Africa, Barrels and Bottles (01246 453177), £8.21 to £6.69 to July 31.
I was bowled over by concentration and ripe berried fruit. Big enough for Saturday dinner or Sunday barbecue.
