Jubilee tree planting drive launched
The Princess Royal put the first in the ground for the Jubilee Woods Project organised by the Woodland Trust charity.
The project, which has the Queen’s support and the Princess Royal as patron, aims to plant the trees across the UK and involve millions of people to celebrate the Queen’s 2012 Diamond Jubilee.

The president of the Woodland Trust, TV personality Clive Anderson, said: “The recent news about the Forestry Commission sell off shows people in the UK have a real love for their trees and woods.
“This is an amazing opportunity for everyone in the country to take this a step further for the Queen’s Jubilee.”
The Woodland Trust is now looking for landowners, of all kinds, to plant a Diamond or Jubilee Wood on their own land.
