Landmark turbine blown off course
Natural England, English Heritage and the Ministry of Defence, as well as 600 residents, visitors and caravan owners had objected to the plans for a wind turbine at Flamborough Head.
The 112ft turbine at Hartendale Farm between Danes Dyke and South Landing – close to two nature reserves and sites of special scientific interest – had been branded “industrialisation” of a beautiful coastline, which is vital to East Coast tourism.

Hide AdDavid Hinde, who was part of a recent campaign that successfully fought off an application to build three turbines at Bempton, said the protests had been “unprecedented”.
She added: “Congratulations must go to the residents who have fought hard to protect the area. This sends out a clear message to wind farm planning agents and landowners in the area that heritage coast must come first.”
