The horrific scale of the disaster, and the pressure that this placed on local hospitals, has also seen Bradford become a world-leader in the treatment
of burns.

Hide AdYet this does not lessen the grief or pain for those whose loved ones never returned from a football match that was supposed to have been a celebration of Bradford City's promotion.
It also puts into perspective those who agree with the legendary manager Bill Shankly's assertion that "football is a matter of life and death, except more important". It is not.
