Wetherspoons awaits licence verdict
The Old Market Hall, in Mexborough town centre, was caught out on at least three occasions according to Doncaster Council’s trading standards department.
So-called “test purchase” operations were carried out in February, March and October last year by police and council officers and on each occasion, youngsters were apparently able to buy drinks without being challenged by bar staff.

But members of the committee adjourned the application to a date to be fixed, meaning that the pub will be able to keep trading until any further hearing.
Wetherspoons chief executive John Hutson travelled to Doncaster yesterday to represent the firm at the hearing and oppose any move to close the outlet.
It is understood that he will also attend any further hearing on the pub’s future.
