The result moves Rotherham up to 11th, nine points adrift of the play-offs with just six games left.
“We had a whole host of chances, especially in the first half, and that is what we have been talking about all week,” said Patterson.
“We started excellently. I couldn’t have asked for a better start and we should have been two or three up in the first 15 minutes.

Hide Ad“The delivery into the box was first class and the ball was just begging to be attacked. We have done a lot of work on it and we feel it will come if we keep on doing what we are doing and we feel we will score goals from them.
“Both Ben Pringle and Gareth Evans were particularly effective and Danny Schofield is an outstanding player and we need him to affect the game. No-one is more frustrated than Danny because he is a top-class professional.
“And Ryan Cresswell, on his return from a six-month injury lay-off, was excellent today. He had a first-class game.”
