A Nidderdale dog rescue centre is going from strength to strength thanks to the amazing support of little girls like Isabella Garton.

The six-year-old from Pateley Bridge is one of the youngest volunteers at Moorview Rescue in Bewerley and often comes up to the rescue in school holidays to help walk the dogs.

One particular dog has captured Isbella’s heart.

Called Jasper, this brindle staffy is nine-years-old and arrived at the centre with his seven-year-old offspring Max after their owner could no longer take care of them.

Moorview Rescue volunteer Michelle Hennon said: “Isabella and Jasper have a very special bond and she made it her mission to try and find him a new home.

“She firstly asked her school if they could raise money for the rescue by holding a non uniform day and cake stall and raised £93 which was incredible.

“Then last month we ran a doggy photo competition and she asked mummy if she could enter Jasper. We don’t know how she did it but she shared his picture and he got 649 votes and won!”

Moorview specialises in Bull Breed and larger breed dogs which can be notoriously hard to re-house.
