Artists welcome the chance to showcase their creations

ARTISTS from across East Yorkshire are again showcasing their work at one of the region’s finest stately homes.

The Yorkshire Wolds Art Group is having their third exhibition at the Triton Gallery at Sledmere House.

Most are members of Driffield Art Club and include Hector Fraser, from Nafferton, who has been painting for more than 70 years, Hans Schild, from North Frodingham, who creates huge pieces of metalwork and Rosie Brown from Driffield, who designs and creates bespoke cabinets, boxes, chairs and even wall hangings.

Rosie, whose collection includes work from her 2010 exhibition in Hollywood, made the benches in the gallery.

Jean Balarkas, who took up watercolours and pastels after retiring 10 years ago, organised the show.

She said it was an opportunity for artists to get their work out in the public eye, and added: “We have people from Hull, Cottingham and all over the area.

“It’s a social thing and it gives them a chance to showcase their work.

“They are a very talented bunch of people.”

About 100 people came to a preview last Sunday where some of the paintings were sold.

The exhibition continues until next Friday except tomorrow and Monday.
