By the time you read this, film-maker Danny Lacey will really need some sleep. And probably a toilet break.

Lacey began broadcasting for 24 hours, non-stop, at 9pm last night, in a bid to raise funds for his latest film.

Dewsbury-born Lacey, formerly a radio presenter on Radio Aire, began broadcasting live on the internet yesterday and will continue from his Leeds studio until nine tonight.

He hopes to raise money to fund his next short film project, Love Like Hers.

The live show, entitled The Filmmaker's Journey, features special guest interviews, insider tips on filmmaking and live chat.

Tomorrow, Sheffield is set to host its first anarchist book fair.

The event, hosted by the Corporation night club on Milton Street, runs from 10am to 4pm and features displays by publishers from around the country, and various talks including What is Anarchism?

Spare a thought for the staff of York Theatre Royal this weekend – although, spare more of a thought for one in particular.

On Sunday, a team from the theatre will be running the Edinburgh Marathon. The team will run the marathon in relay, while artistic director Damian Cruden will lead the way by running all 26 miles.

Money raised will go to the Access For All Fund; set up to install a wheelchair lift at the De Grey Rooms which will become the theatre's new rehearsal rooms, workshop space and youth theatre venue in 2011.

Local knitters who want to be part of a giant arts project in Scarborough are being urged to take up their needles and join in an event this weekend.

Scarborough arts development agency Create has teamed up with local community artist Sara Adams to create an amazing life-size, three dimensional knitted picnic.

Knit Happens Picnic in the Garden will feature as part of the North Yorkshire Open Studios exhibition this summer.

To help knitters make their contribution, a drop-in workshop will be held at Scarborough Library from 11am-3pm tomorrow.
