Backstage at Skipton’s Magic Loungeabout Festival

SKIPTON’S Magic Loungeabout festival gets under way this weekend, and we’ve been backstage to see what it’s about.

Musical guests include the Human League, Badly Brawn Boy, Steve Mason, Ed Sheeran and Henry Johnson, while guest writers feature Howard Marks, Annie Nightingale, Simon Beaufoy and Robin Ince.

Organisers say the event is “striving to enhance every part of the festival experience, from sumptuous food and drink to a wide range of boutique accommodation, along with Michelin-starred chef Nigel Haworth thrown in for good measure”.

Camping guests can indulge in VIP waiter service, with the morning papers and breakfast delivered to their tents.

The festival even has its own beer, the Magic Ale, as well as a cinema, games arena, kids’ Garden and more.
